AUDITIONS

Opera Theatre of the Rockies announces auditions for “The Puccini Tour” on Saturday, January 21st from 1:00 – 4:30 pm and on Sunday, January 22nd from 2:00 – 5:30 pm at Packard Hall on the Colorado College Campus (SW corner of Cascade Ave. and Cache La Poudre St).  AN ACCOMPLISHED PIANIST WILL BE PROVIDED.

 

Please be prepared to sing a Puccini aria, if you have one in your repertoire.  If not, it is preferable that you sing any romantic Italian aria that reflects your abilities.  In the absence of the above choices, please sing something as close to the romantic Italian style as possible.  You may be asked to sing a second selection, if you have one available.  A photo and resume/bio is welcomed.  ALL ROLES ARE AVAILBLE.  If you are auditioning for the role of Liu in “Turandot” you may be asked to sing the last 3 lines of “Signore Ascolta” pgs 116, 117 in the Ricordi Score.  If you are auditioning for the role of Turandot, you may to asked to sing from the Ricordi Vocal Score,  pg 272 bottom line and pg 273 top line.These sections need not be memorized. Those auditioning for the chorus may sing any selection of their choosing.  All singers who have previously sung in the OTR chorus are exempt from auditioning and just need to contact OTR to confirm their interest in being considered for the ensemble. 

“The Puccini Tour” will take place on May 5, 6, 7, 2006 in the Pikes Peak Center, Colorado Springs and will make stops in Rome for “Tosca” Act I, in Paris for “La Boheme” Act II, and in Peking for “Turandot” highlights from Acts I, II.  The chorus will be featured and will number some 60 singers.  Performers  will be costumed with wigs/makeup for the named characters and will be staged in concert format with orchestra on stage and use of props and scenic suggestion.
