Pikes Peak Opera League Inc.

Mission: To support other non-profit organizations engaged in the encouragement and support of young singers and the continuing education and support for the appreciation and knowledge of opera.

The Colorado Opera Festival Guild was created in 1979 as a support organization for the Colorado Opera Festival. Even when the Festival closed its doors, the Guild continued to pursue its mission, adopting a name change and broadening its support of other organizations an activities that promoted opera in the Pikes Peak Region. The Guild's national award-winning program, Opera Goes to School, became associated with Martile Rowland's then fledgling Opera Theatre of the Rockies, and has flourished in area schools, involving up to 90 teachers and over 1,000 high-school-aged students each year in the opera experience. In 2003 the League voted to become formally associated with Opera Theatre of the Rockies. As an official member of the OTR operatic family, The Pikes Peak Opera League provides major support for all of Opera Theatre of the Rockies' efforts to create an opera-friendly environment for Colorado Springs and surrounding communities.
