What is it that makes a "Puccini Spectacular" truly spectacular?
Answer (provided by Martile Rowland, Founder/Artistic Director- Opera Theatre of the Rockies): "It starts the with passion of Puccini. We've chosen complete Acts from his very best operas to create a presentation in which the sum is far greater than the parts. Next, the performers. Opera Theatre has always been about giving future 'stars' of the opera the chance to earn their passage to greatness. Each of our 20 Puccini principals is exceptional. To this we add our OTR chorus, an ensemble of 60 voices known for their beautiful tone and roof-raising volume- exactly what this music demands. An expressive 20-voice Children's choir adds richness and realism and a professional orchestra will lie in wait in the pit to add the unmistakable texture and colors unique to this great composer. Maestro Christopher Wilkins will guarantee musical excellence and it is my responsibility to blend theatrical and technical qualities together as producer and director. Add a powerful stage presentation and place this all in the Pikes Peak Center, with you in our audience, and the result is surely to be… spectacular!" Saturday, May 6, 2006 7:30 PM
