Sarah Barber

Mezzo Soprano Sarah Barber (Carmen cover and Student Performance) was a "delightful" witch for last March’s Opera Theatre production of Hänsel and Gretel. Her Company debut was in 2004 she was seen as Carmen and Prince Orlovsky with in A Night at the Opera with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic. She has also performed locally with Central City Opera, the Colorado Music Festival, the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, Opera Ft. Collins, the Longmont Symphony, the Veronika String Quartet, the Littleton Chorale, CU Opera. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa and a Master of Music from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Ms. Barber’s recent awards include two-time Metropolitan Opera Competition Regional Finalist, 2004 2nd Place winner of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild’s Competition, winner of the 1999 Eckstrand Graduate Competition (CU-Boulder), and 1998 Ft. Dodge (IA) Symphony Young Artist Competition winner. She was an apprentice with Des Moines Metro Opera (1999) and Central City Opera (2000). Ms. Barber’s most recent operatic roles include Tisbe in La Cenerentola and Petra in A Little Night Music. Ms. Barber also tours and performs regularly with Central City Opera's Outreach Ensemble and the vocal trio Enchanted Evening.
