Sarah Stone

Soprano Sarah Stone (Micaëla Cover and Student Performance) is pleased to be making her debut with Opera Theatre of the Rockies as Micaela in the student performance cast of Carmen. Ms. Stone is a recent graduate of Northwestern University with a MM in Vocal Performance and Literature. While at Northwestern she was a student of Sunny Joy Langton, Richard Boldrey, and acclaimed baritone, Sherrill Milnes. Roles at Northwestern included Alice Ford in Verdi’s Falstaff, Nella in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Zemfira in Rachmaninov’s Aleko, and Yaroslavana in Borodin’s Prince Igor. Ms. Stone also holds a Bachelors degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder where she performed such roles as the First Lady in The Magic Flute and Cecilia in the world premiere of Sara McKinnon. In 2001, she was a member of the opera studio of the American Institute of Musical Studies program in Graz, Austria. Ms. Stone is a regular concert and recital performer, and concert repertoire includes the soprano soloist in Brahm’s Requiem, Vivaldi’s Gloria, and Ralph Vaughan William’s Dona Nobis Pacem. Recently, Ms. Stone was the winner of the Denver Lyric Opera Guild’s Karl Schmid Award. This summer she had the pleasure of participating in The Opera Theatre of the Rockies’ Vocal Arts Symposium while singing Liu in scenes from Puccini’s Turandot. Ms. Stone is a student of Martile Rowland.
