John Carpenter, tenor

John Carpenter was the First Place National winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions and also was the winner of the prestigious Richard Tucker Auditions. He has performed operatic roles such as Rodolfo in La Boheme, Riccardo in Un Ballo in Maschera, Duke in Rigoletto, Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Don Jose in Carmen. John has also had the honor of singing in the White House, Avery Fischer Hall, National Cathedral, and with the Symphonies of Dallas, Toronto, and Guelph. Another career highlight for John was the occasion of his singing in Carnegie Hall with Maestro James Levine at the piano. John has trained at Catholic University, Indiana University, the Juilliard School and currently studies with Vera Scammon, Professor Emeritus of Indiana University. He has taught in the college and university setting for over 10 years and currently maintains a voice studio along with his wife, soprano Gail Allen Carpenter.
