Soprano Judeth Shay Burns (Rose Maurant) has received critical acclaim for her portrayals of operatic and musical theatre heroines. Recent performances include those as guest soloist for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra's Colorado Christmas Concert, telecast live on CBS Channel 4, from Boettcher Hall; Community Concert tours throughout the region for Central City Opera; soprano soloist for the Colorado Springs Philharmonic's Carmina Burana; selection's from Kirk Meecham's John Brown for the Opera America National Convention; David Crumb's Hearing Bells for the Colorado College New Music Symposium, and a guest recital for the University of Denver, Lamont School of Music. She also reprised her role of Baby Doe Tabor in the Ballad of Baby Doe at the historic Tabor Opera House in Leadville, Colorado. Ms. Burns is a graduate of the Mannes College of Music, where she was awarded the Richard F. Gold Career Grant, and the University of Colorado. She has also studied and performed at the Aspen Music Festival, and the Circle in the Square in New York City. Ms. Burns is a member of the voice faculty at Colorado College and a teaching artist for Central City Opera, and the recipient of two Pikes Peak Arts Council awards for best classical solo performance.
