Stacey Canterbury

Soprano Stacey Canterbury (Anna Maurant) engagements include the title roles in Aida (Opera Fort Collins), Tosca (Opera Theater of the Rockies) and Manon Lescaut (cover - Utah Opera Festival) as well as Mimi in La Bohème. She also covered the bravura role of Lina in Verdi's Stiffelio for the prestigious Verdi Cycle with Sarasota Opera, while engaged as a Studio Artist. This season Ms. Canterbury will add the role of Leonora (Il Trovatore) on her return engagement with Opera Fort Collins in May 2009. Ms. Canterbury has performed as a member of the Opera Colorado Outreach Ensemble and as a Resident Artist with the Tri-Cities Opera in Binghamton, NY. In these esteemed programs, she performed numerous principal roles, including the Mother/Witch in Hansel and Gretel, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni, Marguerite in Faust and the title role in Suor Angelica, to name a few. Ms. Canterbury's awards include placing as a Finalist in Denver Lyric Opera Guild Competition and the Metropolitan Opera Colorado/Wyoming District. She was a recipient of the Tri-Cities Opera Guild Scholarship Award and the Adele Bernstein Award. A native of Charleston, West Virginia, Ms. Canterbury received a Bachelors and Masters from the Cleveland Institute of Music.
