COLORADO SPRINGS, CO – Opera Theatre of the Rockies (OTR) recently named Eapen Leubner as Interim Executive Director, the first for the non-profit, performing arts organization.
“Opera Theatre is in a time of transition during this, our 25th Season,” says Martile Rowland, OTR’s Artistic Director and Founder. “As I look toward my retirement and the future of the company, I am more than happy to have Eapen assume the role of Executive Director. His addition to our team will ensure a smooth transition into a secure future for Opera Theatre. He is knowledgeable, creative, organized, and an energetic resource. We are thrilled to have him aboard!” An experienced classical vocalist and as founder of the non-profit Art Song Colorado (ASC), Leubner is uniquely suited for his new role as Interim Executive Director to the only opera company in Southern Colorado as it enters its 25th Season, to be announced later this month. Leubner has received accolades and appreciation from Opera News, The New York Times and Musical America as a professional opera soloist. His singing roles have ranged from traditional to cutting-edge modern opera to art song recitals and albums. “We at Opera Theatre of the Rockies are so excited about the addition of Eapen to our executive team. With this being our 25th Anniversary, he has joined us at the perfect time,” says Solveig Olsen, Board Chair. “He brings a wealth of experience both as a performer and administrator, and we look forward to having him join us as we present our upcoming season.” "Since arriving in Colorado in 2014, I've been inspired by the artists and music companies I have worked with as a singer, director and producer. My introduction to Opera Theatre of the Rockies was singing the role of Nanki-poo in The Mikado,” says Leubner. “Joining the team at Opera Theatre of the Rockies is a wonderful opportunity to help Martile bring this 25th Anniversary season to life and help set a path for the next 25 years of opera in Colorado Springs."
