Opera Theatre Goes to School
Opera Theatre of the Rockies is proud to Present Barber of Seville in California
This spring, Opera Theatre Goes to School is bringing a brilliant adaptation of Rossini's Barber if Seville to Colorado Springs area schools. Barber of Seville in California is a condensed, bilingual adaptation of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. It’s a one-act opera lasting less than 45 minutes, intended for young audiences. English-speaking Count Almaviva, hopes to make the Spanish-speaking Rosina fall in love with him. In this version, Rosina’s guardian Dr. Bartolo is Aunt Bartolo. Instead of Bartolo’s obsession to marry Rosina to get her money, Aunt Bartolo is a micromanaging aunt who wants to keep control of Rosina and her money. The Count asks the cunning and comical Figaro to help him in his quest. Laughs and smiles abound in this relatable and accessible version of a beloved opera classic.
